READING/LANGUAGE ARTS
Sixth grade reading and writing is designed to provide students with essential skills to meet and exceed all literacy learning standards. Instruction will focus on vocabulary, word knowledge, grammar, comprehension and constructed responses while digging into a variety of literature, non- fiction, poetry and novels. Instruction will be given in whole group and small group settings. Achievement of the learning standards will be measured through performance tasks, essays (narrative, informative, argumentative), open-ended responses, comprehension and vocabulary exams/quizzes, and projects. Our Collections reading text is available online. The website is my.hrw.com. Weekly online homework will be assigned, so home internet access will be needed. Please use individual user names (handed out in class) and the password eagles2022. All students must have a book from home to read in class. Students will have access to our classroom library as well.
